Cambodian-Thai Provincial Administrations Discuss the Possibility of Temporarily Opening More New Border Gates

BANTEAY MEANCHEY: Leaders of Banteay Meanchey Province, led by Governor Ou Reatrey, met with the Governor of Sa Kaeo Province of the Kingdom of Thailand, Parinya Phothisat, regarding the temporary opening of the Stung Bot International border gate a port for transporting goods in and out of either province on Thursday, 10 March.

The meeting was held at the Thai Customs Office at the Poipet-Klong Lek International Border Crossing, to strengthen the sisterhood between the two provinces and exchange information, with the aim of temporarily opening the Stung Bot International Border Crossing.

However, according to Governor Ou Reatrey, the two sides have not yet decided when this border crossing will open, pending the two governments' policies and the construction of administrative buildings for professional officials to be complete at any level first.

The Stung Bot-Nang Ean International Border Crossing is a new economic border crossing between Cambodia and Thailand. The project to establish and open the international border crossing was initiated by the Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia and Thailand at the Mekong-Irrawaddy Economic Cooperation Meeting (MICE).
