Banteay Meanchey Provincial Commissioner Instructs Officers to Prevent Drug Offenses

BANTEAY MEANCHEY: The Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Sithi Loh, instructed all districts and cities along the Cambodian-Thai border to prevent the import of illegal goods, especially through corridors that are prone to the smuggling in and out of illegal goods (including illegal cross-border workers), and to especially prevent the cross-border trafficking of drugs.

Speaking at the handover ceremony and appointment of the new O'Chrov District Police Inspector on Thursday, 10 March, Major General Sith Loh instructed the O'Chrov District Police Force, particularly the O'Bei Choan Commune Administration Post, that the newly-appointed inspector must implement the orders of the relevant authorities and prevent the flow of illegal migrant workers by finding all illegal cross-border brokers, smuggled goods, etc., in cooperation with the border police authorities and the military forces stationed along the border. He stressed that authorities must focus on suppressing other crimes, especially those related to drugs.

On 1 March 2022, at the inauguration of the Poipet International Gate (Cambodia-Thailand), the Minister of Interior, Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng, urged the special border provinces of Cambodia and Thailand to continue their cooperation to further improve the relationship between the two countries, in order to increase the necessary labor relations between the two nations by tightening the prevention of illegal border crossings, especially the illegal transport of drugs, in cooperation with all relevant authorities, who must control and examine this issue very carefully.
