Phnom Penh: Special Envoy of the Japanese Government and President of The Nippon Foundation, Yohei Sasakawa, requested permission from the Prime Minister to bring Myanmar students to Cambodia to learn how to make artificial limbs.

This request was made during the meeting between Yohei and the Prime Minister at the Peace Palace on the afternoon of March 7, 2022.

According to the Prime Minister's personal assistant, Eang Sophalleth, he told reporters: "During the meeting, Yohei talked about his organization in Cambodia that existed for a long time to teach students how to make artificial limbs. Thus, he would like to respectfully ask the Prime Minister’s permission to allow Myanmar students to come and learn about Cambodia and about artificial limbs here."

The Prime Minister agreed to this request and said that it was an honor for Cambodia.

Speaking of Myanmar, Yohei praised the Prime Minister's visit to Myanmar in early January, which paved the way and unlocked the key to finding a solution for the country.

According to Eang Sophalleth, paraphrasing Yohei: "His Excellency Yuhei said that 100 meetings is not equal to one action, that is, the Prime Minister's visit to Myanmar has unlocked the key already. This action is done from the heart and soul and is also given greater hope to the people of Myanmar."

The Prime Minister thanked him for these kind words and said that Cambodia and Japan have the same interest in Myanmar: stop the violence, bring humanitarian aid to the people in need, and more importantly, bring democracy to Myanmar. The Prime Minister said that as the Chair of ASEAN, he will continue to do this work.
