Kyiv Residents Sign Up for Civil Defence Units, Receive Arms

INTERNATIONAL: Kyiv residents ,both men and women have showed up on Monday ,February 28 at local civil territorial defence centres to sign up and receive arms, days after Russia has invaded their country.

The United States expects Russian forces to try to encircle Kyiv in the coming days and could become more aggressive out of frustration with their slow advance on the Ukrainian capital, a senior U.S. defense official has said on Monday.

Russian artillery has bombarded residential districts of Ukraine's second largest city Kharkiv on Monday, killing possibly dozens of people, Ukrainian officials has said, as Moscow's invading forces met stiff resistance from Ukrainians on a fifth day of conflict.
