Taboo on EU Providing Lethal Weapons Has Fallen

INTERNATIONAL: The European Union's foreign policy chief has said on Sunday ,February 27, the bloc would support Ukraine with lethal weapons “another taboo has fallen, the taboo that the European Union was not providing arms in a war, yes, we are doing it” he has said, as Russia put its nuclear deterrents on high alert.

The High representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrel has outlined further sanctions the bloc would take against Russia, including economic measures against ‘oligarchs’ who he has said benefited from Putin’s regime.

Standing alongside European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen, Borrell has also said that targeting Russian misinformation by banning some Russian broadcasters from the European Union was “killing the snake on its neck.”

The Chief of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel says after Putin has announced that he is putting Russian nuclear deterrent forces on high alert, that’s important to stress that the nuclear forces of Russia have been put on high alert. And so , Borrel has proposed to use the European peace facility for two emergency assistance measures, to finance the supply of lethal material to the Ukrainian army as well as urgently need fuel, protective equipment as well as medical supplies.

Borrel has added that they had discussed with the foreign ministers the announcement of tough economic sanctions, SWIFT, the central bank, and EU has also put forward additional listings against oligarchs which target the elite of the Putin regime, who benefit financially from the system.

The chief of EU’s foreign policy has also said, EU is taking a crucial step to turn off the tap for the Russian’s information manipulation in Europe by banning Russia Today and Sputnik from broadcasting in the European Union.
