Monday, 28 February, marks the 10th National Clean City Day, celebrated under the theme Clean City: Supporting the reopening of Cambodian tourism, and is accompanied by the announcement of the "Clean Cambodia" campaign to welcome the 2023 SEA Games and the ASEAN Para Games. The purpose of this campaign is to demonstrate the importance of urban cleanliness.

In response to the theme of the National Clean City Day 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen has set out four priority tasks, the first being the implementation of set rules, including tourism safety rules and minimum operating procedures (SOP) for tourism services in line with the new normal path and measures of the Royal Government, in order to continue preventing the spread of Covid-19 and restoring confidence and trust in all production lines in the tourism sector so that they will be ready to welcome tourists and participants for the 2023 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games. These major events require the organization of capital and provincial competition campaigns with outstanding achievements in the implementation of tourism safety rules.

The second priority task concerns the contribution to the restoration of tourism by endorsing the implementation of the Royal Government’s strategic plans, which have been set out to revive tourism through the roadmap on the plan to restore and promote tourism in and after the Covid-19 crisis, with policy measures to promote domestic tourism and movement between 2021-2023 and a strategic plan on the opening of vaccinated tourism.

The third priority is the promotion of the honor and image of Cambodia through the influence of the 2023 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games by launching social education campaigns and promoting the "Clean Cambodia" campaign. The fourth priority is to adhere to the new normal, in particular, the habit of living with "cleanliness and hygiene" along with the continued implementation of the Royal Government’s set health rules and regulations of to prevent the further spread of Covid-19.
