Senior Health Officials Advise Relevant Officials to Eradicate All Types of Malaria and Dengue Fever More Effectively

PHNOM PENH: Senior health officials from the Ministry of Health have instructed relevant officials to work together to eradicate malaria, falciparum, dengue and chickenpox more effectively to ensure the safety of healthy people without the disease.

Speaking at the Closing Ceremony of the National Conference on Malaria, Parasitology and Archeology in 2021 and the Work direction for 2022 in Siem Reap, the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, Dr. O Vandin has made some recommendations for the National Program against Malaria.

The first defeat promotes the implementation of the Pre-Vaccination (IPTf) approach to high-risk targets (forest entry) to prevent the emergence of new cases or to prevent transmission to others in or near the area of the target group at high risk.

Second, establish inter-provincial or inter-regional working groups that are at high risk or still have malaria cases to jointly prevent and eradicate malaria as a regional framework in different regions throughout the country.

Third, to accelerate the establishment of the above working group by cooperating with the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Women's Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Interior and other relevant sectors in a cross-sectoral manner to prevent the transmission of tourists to adventure tourism in areas with malaria transmission.

Fourth, to increase health education, especially about the benefits of participation in immunization and other preventive measures in various risk areas. Fifth, continue to manage malaria patient information thoroughly, with regular monitoring and timely evaluation of work progress.

The Secretary of State has stated that the implementation of these mechanisms is to jointly eliminate malaria, falciparum, dengue fever and chickenpox more effectively.

She has asserted that tiger mosquito shelters are still a priority at the provincial level to reduce the incidence of dengue and chiropractic agents, as well as other diseases can happen eventually. Through this, the Ministry will expand the capacity to control dengue fever, chickenpox or other diseases that can be caused by mosquito bites to health officials in public health institutions and private services and continue to cooperate with development partners to continue to expand community health education. By strengthening and expanding the primary health care work in the community to continue to increase the awareness and participation of the people in reducing the source of tiger mosquitoes and access to medical services at public health facilities in a timely manner, as well as to participate in preventing emergence of other communicable and non-communicable diseases in the community.
