PM Hun Sen Confirms His Policy Not to Tax Agricultural Land

PHNOM PENH: Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2021 work review meeting and the 2022 work direction of the Ministry of Interior on 23 February 2022, Cambodia’s premier has said: "My policy is not to tax farmland, agricultural tax, and if after I die, whoever dares to collect farmland tax from farmers, I also curse them. Farmers need us to help them, if we collect tax from them they cannot make us rich, and I am speaking of my experience, the hardships and the tears of my parents.”

The prime minister has taken the story “Phoum Tirichhan” meaning Beast Village, as an example by forcing the people to pay their taxes, which made it unacceptable to people, they rebelled and have revolted and killed the French.
