Men Sam An: Peace Has Turned the Former Battlefield of Pailin Into a Developed Area

PAILIN: The Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection, Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An, noted that Pailin Province has transformed from a battlefield into a well-developed area. She made this comment during the inauguration of a 21-meter-high religious flagpole in Pailin province on Tuesday, 22 February.

Speaking at the flag-raising and the inauguration ceremony at Ratanasophoan pagoda, also known as Kong Kang pagoda, in Wat Village, Sangkat Pailin in Pailin City, DPM Men Sam An said that the living standards of the people of Pailin province have improved greatly as factories, enterprises, small companies and the border economy have significantly grown.

She added that the transformation of the former battlefield into a zone of peace was due to the efforts of the head of the Royal Government, Prime Minister Hun Sen, who unified the nation and brought back a constitutional monarchy with political stability through the implementation of his win-win policy, which has brought socioeconomic development in all fields until now.

She urged the people to join the government's campaigns, especially in the fight against Covid-19, to protect themselves through the diligent implementation of health measures and by getting vaccinated for both the basic and booster doses.

Prime Minister Hun Sen has frequently mentioned his desire to turn the border area into a zone of peace, friendship and development.

In a meeting with the Commander of the Thai Army, Narongphan Jitkaewthae, Prime Minister Hun Sen stressed that in order to turn the border into a peaceful area, the army should play a diplomatic role in maintaining peace and stability to allow the people living along the border to have confidence in doing business between the two countries.
