PHNOM PENH: While delivering a speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Boeung Choeung Ek wastewater treatment plant on Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Hun Sen called on pharmacies and sellers of Covid-19 treatment drugs to not increase prices to ensure that the medicine can still be affordable to all. He also affirmed that the government is currently working on increasing the supply of Covid-19 treatment drugs.

He further stated, “the health department must check whether the drugs being sold are real or not, because counterfeits happen a lot, there is even counterfeit alcohol, so everyone must be careful of counterfeit drugs."

The Ministry of Health has also announced it will take legal action against the unauthorized sale of Covid-19 medicine, among sellers who do not have valid visa numbers or approved registrations from the Ministry, as the sale of unauthorized drugs may endanger the health and lives of consumers. This warning from the Ministry came after a number of Facebook accounts began promoting the sale of unregistered Covid-19 treatment products.

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has also issued a statement stating that Covid-19 treatment drug, Molnatris (Molnupiravir 200 mg) should not be sold for more than US $65.
