Cambodia-Singapore Agricultural Hub (CSAH) in Kampong Speu Province Has Officially Been Launched

Phnom Penh: HLH Agriculture Limited and Hong Lai Huat Limited have inaugurated the Cambodia-Singapore Agricultural Hub (CSAH), which covers an area of about 10,000 hectares in Aoral District, Kampong Speu Province.

EAC News team attended the inauguration ceremony which took place on the evening of February 18, 2022, at Cambodiana hotel. Many investors as well as businessmen, both national and international guests, went to find out what the Cambodia-Singapore Agricultural Hub (CSAH) can offer for their businesses.

Marcus Poh, Head of Business Development, HLH Agriculture (Cambodia) Limited said that the inauguration was attended by Mr. Koh Zhongwei, Deputy Chief of Mission and Advisor of Singapore to the Kingdom of Cambodia and CEO of Hong Lai Huat Group Dato Dr Johnny Ong. He added that everyone is invited to witness the beginning of this evolution, this Agricultural Eco-city.

According to Ryan Ong, Executive Director of Hong Lai Huat Group Limited, he said, “CSAH actually came out from this project that we enhanced from our first development in Cambodia in 2007…With the food security [issues] in mind, the company decided to invest in this 10,000 hectare land which is about 1/7 time of Singapore size for food planting. After we’ve done it for about 6-7 years, we decided to focus on our other properties in Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh. For the direction CSAH, we want to enhance this land, instead of purely utilizing it for agriculture, how can we make use of this land to create more things including job opportunities and improving the economy in Cambodia. So we updated our license with the government in Cambodia to convert this land from pure agriculture to mixed use development land where we can gather more businesses from different trades like manufacturing, logistics, livestock, agriculture, as well as cold room storage. This is our key direction for CSAH.”

The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Hong Lai Huat Group Limited and the Singapore Manufacturing Federation happened both in Cambodia and Singapore via zoom. Poh hopes to promote agriculture and business investment opportunities with Cambodia-Singapore Agricultural Hub (CSAH).

The Cambodia-Singapore Agricultural Hub (CSAH) has been included in the list of the latest prestigious development projects of Hong Lai Huat Group Limited in the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The project was designed by Singapore-based architectural firm Swan & Maclaren. The Cambodia-Singapore Agricultural Hub (CSAH) fosters opportunities for businesses to tap into the growing agricultural sector in Cambodia from the development of infrastructure and the arrival of food trading hub in Cambodia, which aims to bring "one-stop shop" and other facilities to business partners in Cambodia and the surrounding countries.

The hub will cover 14 types in 16 different zones that will serve all types of agriculture, businesses, and residential needs for those who want to live in an eco-city; it will be developed in three phases. A good portion of the hub will be reserved for open areas, green areas, reservoirs and roads for transportation, transforming it into one of Cambodia's leading eco-agricultural cities.

The hub is located near National Roads 3, 4, 41, 44 and 51, providing convenient transportation for businesses with transportation needs and providing convenience for businesses locally and internationally.
