DPM Prak Sokhonn: Although Myanmar Did Not Officially Attend, They Still Listened Online

PHNOM PENH: The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn, said that although Myanmar did not officially attend the ASEAN Foriegn Ministers’ Meeting, they were still allowed to observe and listen to the meeting online.

The Cambodian Foreign Minister made this statement at a press conference after the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held at the Sofitel Hotel in Phnom Penh.

Myanmar could not attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in person as ASEAN Member States did not agree to invite the Myanmar military government’s appointed Foreign Minister over a lack of progress made on the implementation of the ASEAN Five-Point Consensus. Myanmar were encouraged to send a non-political representatives instead, however, until the day of the meeting, Myanmar did not confirm any official representatives to attend.
