Ministry of Tourism Presents Scenario to Revitalize Cambodia's Tourism Sector

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Tourism has presented development scenarios in the form of three strategic goals that will help to revitalize tourism in Cambodia after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tourism development scenarios in Cambodia have been projected by the Ministry over the next seven years, from 2020 to 2027. The three strategic goals that will revitalize Cambodia's tourism sector are in the form of a U for international tourists and a V for domestic tourists.

In order to restore and promote tourism in Cambodia, it is necessary to implement stages that respond to the development of the Covid-19 disease management situation at the national, regional and global levels, focusing on three strategic goals and four pillars to move towards effective restoration.

The goals focus on the economy and employment, the promotion of the Cambodian tourism market, and the reorganization of tourism governance mechanisms. The four pillars include cultural heritage, ecotourism, beach tourism and Khmer identity.

The Ministry of Tourism estimates that by 2027, there will be eight million international tourists and 12 million domestic tourists in Cambodia.
