Vietnamese Foreign Minister Tests Positive for Covid-19 Upon Arrival in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: The Vietnamese Foreign Minister, Bui Thanh Son, tested positive for Covid-19 upon his arrival in Cambodia on Wednesday afternoon, to attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

During a dinner held with the arrived ASEAN Foreign Ministers at the Sofitel Hotel on Wednesday night, Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn confirmed that the Vietnamese Foreign Minister had tested positive for Covid-19. He said, “I wish for my colleague (Vietnamese Foreign Minister), who was found positive for Covid-19 when he arrived in Cambodia, to get well soon."

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chun Sounry, told EAC News that the Vietnamese Foreign Minister will now attend the meeting online from his room, where the proper health and medical arrangements have been prepared for him.

The ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting is being held in Cambodia on 17 February, with Ministers from all ASEAN member states, except Myanmar, attending either in person or virtually.
