Japan Donates $700,000 to Improve Education in Kandal Province

PHNOM PENH: The Government of Japan has agreed to provide a total of US $664,994 to two aid agencies in order to improve education in Kandal province, and to organize four years of physical education courses at the university level.

According to a post made on the official Facebook page of the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia, under the grant scheme for this Japanese NGO project, US $266,428 has been provided to the Japan Association for Aid and Relief (AAR Japan) to implement the “Environmental Education Promotion Project for Children with Disabilities through Strengthening Local Implementation Model and Development of Environmental Education Assessment System (Year 3)" and another US $398,566 was awarded to Golden Heart NGO to implement the "Project on Organizing 4-Year University Physical Education Courses at the National Institute of Physical Education and Sports (Year 3)".

Japan's Ambassador to Cambodia, Mikami Masahiro, thanked the two organizations for participating in the Japanese government's initiative.

Japan is a major donor to Cambodia, having provided funding for large-scale official development assistance projects such as the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port project, National Road No. 5 project and a 20 billion yen financing loan for the fight against Covid-19.
