$22 Million Drainage System and Wastewater Treatment Plant Project Inaugurated in Banteay Meanchey
BANTEAY MEANCHEY: The groundbreaking ceremony for a new US $22 million Drainage system and Wastewater Treatment Plant at Serey Sophorn city in Banteay Meanchey Province, was held on Friday under the presidency of Ly Sary, the Deputy Governor of Banteay Meanchey province.
According to the Director of the Department of Public Works and Transport of Banteay Meanchey Province, Sok Chantha, the project work area spans across 36,724 km of land and will connect houses, commercial buildings and 3,766 institutions with 9,765 km of pressure sewer network, 63,332 km of sewer network, one main pumping station and three small pumping stations, and a wastewater treatment station, with a processing capacity of 3,500 cubic meters per day.
The Director further confirmed that the contract for this project was signed on 19 April 2021 by the Royal Government of Cambodia with a Chinese company under the technical supervision of the National Advisor of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, with a total budget US $22.4 million and a three-year construction plan (September 2021 to August 2024).
