Ministry of Water Resources Calls on People to Save Water After Expressing Concern Over Insufficient Rainfall

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has called on people to save water, especially in remote rural areas, because the forecast in 2022 shows that the amount of rainfall is not enough to meet water needs.

The first weather forecast for the 2021-2022 dry season and the beginning of the 2022 rainy season states that the 2022 rainy season in the lowlands and coastal areas may begin in the first week of May and in the highlands, it may begin in the second week of May.

According to the Ministry of Water Resources, although there may be heavy rainfall in the early rainy season, the amount of forecasted rainfall will likely not be enough to meet immediate needs. Therefore, the Ministry urges people to continue to conserve and use water sparingly, especially in remote rural areas far from water sources.
