The Minister of Agriculture Orders to Control Chemical Fertilizers and Pesticides that can be Used to Produce Drugs

PHNOM PENH: The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has ordered the inspection of chemical fertilizers and pesticides that can be used to mix drugs. This order comes after the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Krala Hom Sar Kheng recently ordered the authorities to search those who are allowed to bring 100 tons of legal drugs into Cambodia.

The Minister has instructed the relevant officials to pay more attention to inspecting the composition of chemical fertilizers and pesticides that can be mixed to produce drugs in cooperation with the drug authorities. In addition, priotize and promote the implementation of action plans in accordance with the strategic framework of the program to restore and promote economic growth in living with the context of Covid-19 disease through 3R (1. Recovery 2. Reform 3. Resilience). These include: Pilot project to provide 40 percent Grant Matchinng to farmers, producers / farming communities who invest in the construction of greenhouses / nets for growing vegetables on 0.5 hectares of land. Hectare is planning to implement contract farming with a private company or lending at 4 percent interest. Promoting the production of Foundation Seeds and Camilisc Seeds of Fragrant Rice Strengthen disease and climate change cassava and cashew varieties through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mechanism. Strengthen the capacity of agricultural production groups, associations and agricultural communities, and promote the implementation of contract farming on cassava and vegetables. Strengthen the promotion of good agricultural practices and fulfillment. Hygiene and phytosanitary requirements for mango, lentils, Pailin, pepper, durian and fragrant coconut. Invest in the wholesale market, infrastructure, quality control and certification. The system identifies the origin of products and supporting structures, such as refrigerators, through the PPP mechanism on public-private locations with high potential for the collection of 3 additional test sites in the first phase, such as the suburbs of Phnom Penh, Battambang and Tbong Khmum Province.
