PHNOM PENH: Public bus driver, Mao Sophal, was summoned by the unit to get educated after a video of an altercation with a motorcyclist was shared on social media.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the Phnom Penh Autonomous Bus Transportation Authority stated that it considers the actions and gestures of the driver affected the honor of the public transport service organization, and especially affects the dignity and morality of other bus drivers.

The statement said, "The Phnom Penh City Bus Authority will strengthen the discipline of the aforementioned driver by inviting him to come and get educated, and sign a contract saying he will not repeat such actions again.”

According to the Phnom Penh City Bus Authority, a dispute between a bus driver and a motorcyclist occurred on Tuesday, 25 January, at the Total Petrol Station, near Borey Sandepheap 2 in Por Sen Chey district, which was caused by the bus driver blasting his horn to the motorcyclist who was driving in the middle of the road. The motorcyclist became angry and said some insulting words to the bus driver that angered the bus driver in turn who retaliated with more inappropriate gestures and words.

The Phnom Penh City Bus Authority also calls on all motorcyclists to respect the lane for buses to avoid any possible accidents.
