Construction of Wall on Poland-Belarus Border Begins

INTERNATIONAL: The construction of a wall along Poland's border with Belarus began on Tuesday,January 25.

The border guard has published footage of heavy machinery digging holes next to a fence built to stop migrant crossings along the countries' shared frontier.

Poland's parliament has backed construction of the barrier last October after thousands of migrants from Africa and the Middle East have attempted to cross from Belarus throughout 2021 sparking a major crisis.

The wall's construction is estimated to cost at least $400 million and stretch 186 kilometres.
