Foreign Minister Summons Diplomats to Provide Information on PM's Visit to Myanmar

PHNOM PENH: Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhon wrote on his official Facebook page, and posted along with four photos of his meeting with Cambodian diplomats on Tuesday, to provide information on Prime Minister Hun Sen's working visit to Myanmar.

Mr. Prak Sokhon has stated that the meeting with the diplomats held on the morning of Tuesday, 25 January, was to show Cambodia's intention to contribute to peace building in Myanmar, which will require increasing mutual trust.

The foreign minister says; "I reiterate that the peace process must be led by Myanmar itself, As the chair of ASEAN, Cambodia will try to facilitate this process, but obviously the constructive support of the ASEAN family and our partners and all stakeholders is very important."

The President of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) 2022 Prime Minister Hun Sen has paid a state visit to Myanmar on 7-8 January 2022, on a mission to help find a solution to the country's stalemate and bring the ASEAN spirit back. During the visit, Myanmar military leader Min Aung Hlaing has promised the Prime Minister that the Myanmar military government will extend the ceasefire until the end of 2022, facilitate the process of receiving aid from ASEAN and facilitate the ASEAN special envoy to visit Myanmar to meet with all parties to the conflict in the country, including ethnic armed groups.
