ASEAN-EU Business Council Supports Cambodia's ASEAN Chairmanship

PHNOM PENH: The ASEAN-EU Business Council announced its support for Cambodia's ASEAN chairmanship by participating in discussions during the ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meeting, organized by the Ministry of Economy and Finance for this March 2022.

The statement was made on the occasion of the meeting between the Executive Director of the ASEAN-Europe Business Council, Chris Humphrey, and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Deputy Prime Minister Aun Pornmoniroth, on Tuesday morning at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

In preparation for the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Finance and the Central Bank Governors’ Meeting, the Minister also informed the ASEAN-EU Business Council that the Ministry of Economy and Finance has identified three priorities, including recovery, building resiliency, and togetherness for ASEAN Financial Cooperation, to support the 2022 ASEAN Common Core Policy on ASEAN Working Together to Solve Common Challenges (ASEAN A.C.T.: Addressing Challenges Together).

The two sides also spoke about other important agendas that are to be discussed for the ASEAN Summit, such as the continuation of the ASEAN Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance as a roadmap for financing focused development projects on reducing risks from climate change and strengthening tax policies on illegal goods.

The Minister of Economy and Finance hopes that the participation of the ASEAN-Europe Business Council in talks with the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank of ASEAN will continue to be the basis for the ASEAN region to attract more foreign investment and move forward towards a sustainable and resilient economic recovery.
