National Assembly President Calls on People to Get Their Booster Shots

PHNOM PENH: National Assembly President, Heng Samrin, other members of the National Assembly and their allies received the fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine (Pfizer) at the National Assembly building, organized by the Ministry of Health and the General Secretariat of the National Assembly this Monday morning. On that occasion, he called on all citizens to get vaccinated with the booster shot, and encouraged everyone to continue implementing strict health measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, especially the new Omicron variant.

He said, "Even after citizens have received their third and fourth dose vaccines, please continue to implement the ‘3 Do’s and 3 Don’ts’ health measures on a regular basis to prevent the spread of Covid-19 within the community again."

The global social and economic stalemate brought on by the pandemic has caused hardships in people’s livelihoods, including in Cambodia. The National Assembly President emphasized that in order to avoid those difficulties again, everyone should get vaccinated and thoroughly implement the recommended health measures. He said that it is only with the participation of all citizens that our families, communities and society can overcome the threat of Covid-19.

He further expressed his appreciation to the Royal Government for its efforts to protect people’s lives from this deadly disease, particularly the successful implementation of the national vaccine campaign and policy, which has allowed Cambodia to reopen and begin its socioeconomic recovery.

The National Assembly President also extended his thanks to Cambodia’s close allies and development partners for providing financial assistance, vaccines and medical equipment during times of hardship to protect people from the effects of Covid-19.
