High School Students Share Their Feelings on Their Exam Results

PHNOM PENH: The results of the 2020-2021 Highschool Baccalaureate exam were released today, a few days earlier than previously scheduled.

Students could choose whether to receive their results online or in person, a measure that was introduced just this morning in order to limit crowding and prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Last year, in 2020, there was no high school exams because of the pandemic, and all students received passing marks.

High school students in Phnom Penh and Kandal province received their baccalaureate exam results today. Following a full year of studying online, many students felt the pressure of in-person examinations, a mix of both excitement and stress.

EAC News went out to interview some students outside an examination center to see how they were feeling after receiving their results.

Say Somalin, from Hun Sen Phnom Penh Thmey: "The results meet my expectations, actually they are more than what I expected. I expected that I might just pass the exam, but actually I got a good result. I got a C grade."

Saret Reangsa, from Hun Sen Phnom Penh Thmey: "Actually, I expected that I will get an E grade but instead I got a D, I’m so happy."

"At first, I was so nervous because I looked at the result of the wrong name, but then I scrolled again and I saw that I passed. Now I’m shaking with the excitement."

Rom Sreycare, from Chumpu 1: "It’s more than what I expected. I thought I would get an E grade and I was ready to accept whatever I got, but it came out to be more than what I expected. I got a D grade. I was so excited that I ran off on my motorbike because I saw the announcement on Facebook then rushed here to ask if they had already stamped the exam results."

The high school baccalaureate exams for the 2020-2021 academic year was held on 27-28 December 2021 with a total of 114,185 participating candidates.
