Philippine Government Wants to Boost the Bilateral Cooperation with Cambodia on Security

PHNOM PENH: The Republic of the Philippines expresses its position through the Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia regarding the desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation with Cambodia in the field of security.

This statement was made during a bilateral meeting between the new Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia and the Minister of Interior of Cambodia on Wednesday, 12 January 2022. It was published on the official page of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Krala Hom Sar Kheng,

The Cooperation in the field of security includes: cooperation in the fight against transnational crime, drug problems, technology crime and human trafficking, etc., which are largely under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Interior.

During the meeting, the new Ambassador of the Philippines to Cambodia, Maria Amelita C. Aquino, has reaffirmed the Philippines' continued support for cooperation with Cambodia, especially during its chairmanship of ASEAN, and will continue to participate in supporting all events that the Ministry of Interior is going to chair under the framework of ASEAN as well.

In response, the deputy prime minister has agreed with the Philippines’ ambassador remarks in promoting the framework cooperation under the Ministry of Interior, especially the fight against transnational crime and the expansion of the sisterhood between the two countries.
