Pilot of Crashed Plane Rescued Seconds Before Train Hits

PHOTO: PILOT BEING DRAGGED FROM CRASHED AIRCRAFT BY POLICE BEFORE TRAIN COLLIDES

The pilot of a crashed aircraft in Los Angeles was brought to safety by police seconds before a train collided into it on Sunday.

Body camera footage shows a group of police officers pulling the bloodied pilot out of the downed Cessna that had landed on a level crossing near Whiteman Airport, before dragging him across the ground as the train arrived. In was a narrow escaped. The officers and pilot were only a few feet away from the tracks when the passing train plows through.

“The plane had a failed takeoff and landed on the train tracks at a popular intersection,” said Luis Jimenez, a 21-year-old music composer who filmed the video. “Just seconds before impact police officers saved the pilot, and a piece of debris almost hit me.”

The pilot was the sole occupant of the aircraft that crashed shortly after takeoff and was transported to a regional trauma centre by paramedics, according to an update by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). No one on board the train was injured, local media reported.

Floods Kill 10, Leave Hundreds Homeless in Eastern Cape

And…Massive floods around South Africa's eastern coast city of East London have killed at least ten people, and left hundreds without homes, since the weekend.

A footage shows rivers bursting through banks, leaving roads inundated.

It also reported that hundreds of homes had been washed away in the iron-roof informal settlements just outside the city.

Scientists have predicted that climate change is the cause of the worsening floods and droughts along South Africa's eastern coastline.

The deadly flood comes despite the country's Department of Environment drawing up a plan for the country to adapt to climate change in 2019, which included strengthening its preparedness to respond more quickly to weather disasters and help victims recover.
