PM Hun Sen Visits the Construction Site of the Big Buddha Statue in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar

PHNOM PENH: Before coming back to Phnom Penh on Saturday ,8 January, the second and last day of the official visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Prime Minister Hun Sen visits the construction site of the Big Buddha Statue in Nay Pyi Taw. The site for placing the statue of the Buddha in the college was created to worship four points;

First, to show the glorious growth of Buddhism in Myanmar to the world; Second,to ensure peace and stability in the state; Third, to create a growing population of local people to visit by national and international pilgrims; And fourth, to facilitate national development.

During the visit, Prime Minister Hun Sen and the rest of the have listened carefully to the indications and guidance on the actual situation in the construction of the Big Buddha Statue and the Big Buddha Statue Resort. It was shown in the photo the stone found in the middle of the country to build the statue. This picture shows a stone weighing 3,700 tons, which was carved in 2019. The statue was 63 feet high, with a total height of 331 feet. In the transport process, there are also four large blocks, the largest of which weighs 1,990 tons and the smallest of which weighs 800 tons. In the process of transportation, the workers have used a variety of high speeds. In construction, have seven stone connections. Each stone weighs 90 to 680 tons. During the stone carving, workers have used computer-controlled machines. The first stone weighed 1,990 tons. The fourth part of the sculpture, has already been built. Before the carving, the stone weighed 800 tons, after the carving, it has reduced to 610 tons . The third piece of stone is intended to connect as shown in the picture. After connecting sections 1,2,3, workers lifted the platform, probably weighing more than 2,000 tons, then connected the fourth section.

After the connection is complete, sculptures will work more details until done. While carving the statue, artists needs to consider the weight of the statue, which weighs 3,510 tons, second, they need to consider the resistance and wind force, and third, they need to consider 8.8 magnitude earthquake in all three cases, they have to used construction using a variety of techniques. When completed, the head of the statue weighs 1,103 tons, a total of more than 3,500 tons, the largest in the world. To build the statue, Myanmar government leaders have met with monks in detail. Along with the construction of the statue, they also plan to build a park in front of the Buddha in the style of a Buddha park, with a pavilion, a school, a lake for the Buddha image. The construction of this huge Buddha statue was funded by the Myanmar government, monks and philanthropists both at home and abroad.

After the said visit, Prime Minister Hun Sen and the rest of high-ranking delegation of the Royal Government of Cambodia have proceeded to Nay Pyi Taw International Airport. Cambodian delegation was seen off by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar,Wunna Maung Lwin, the Governor of Nay Pyi Taw, Chhouk Bonna, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar; In the presence of His Excellency Lady Excellency, senior dignitaries of the State Administration of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and many diplomatic dignitaries
