Royal Government Working Hard to Promote Gender Equality

PHNOM PENH: The launching ceremony for the “Gender Mainstreaming Strategic Plan in Environmental Sector 2021-2025” was held on Wednesday, where the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Environment, Mom Thany, remarked that the Royal Government of Cambodia is working hard to promote gender equality across all sectors.

Minister Mom Thany said that the launch of the strategic plan will help to mainstream the gender vision of policies, strategies and action plans for ministries in Cambodia, which will further contribute to the Kingdom’s efforts towards sustainable development.

She continued that the strategic plan highlights the gender aspect in environmental management in order to increase women's role in the field, particularly in local community entrepreneurship to promote good governance and inclusive economic growth.

She added that continuing to empower women and girls in society is a necessary commitment to achieve gender equity and Cambodia's 2050 outlook.

The Secreatry of State at the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Sivann Botum, also echoed this fact and highlighted the ministry's efforts to work with other ministries and institutions to enhance gender equality, women’s empowerment, the right to protection, the elimination of violence, prevention of sexual abuse and more.
