PHNOM PENH: The Spokesman for the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), Sous Yara, has announced that the Minister of Defense, Tea Banh, and the Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection, Men Sam An, were elected as Vice Presidents of the CPP during the party’s 43rd Central Committee Meeting on Friday morning.
With the appointment of these two dignitaries, the CPP now has a total of four vice presidents, including President of the Senate, Say Chhum, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sar Kheng.
The Central Committee Meeting of the 5th Mandate of the CPP was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Hun Sen, President of the CPP, and National Assembly President, Heng Samrin, Honorary President of the CPP.
The CPP is the largest party in Cambodia with a Central Committee of 837 members, including 37 members in the Standing Committee. The party has now ruled for six consecutive terms.
