Vietnamese President Visits NA President, Attends Groundbreaking Ceremony

PHNOM PENH: As part of his official visit to Cambodia, Vietnamese President, Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, has paid a courtesy visit to the President of The National Assembly of Cambodia, Heng Samrin, on Tuesday afternoon. Following the visit, the Vietnamese President also attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the new administrative building of the National Assembly, which the Government of Vietnam provided 25 Million dollars to help construct back in 2017, as a means to further strengthen the two countries’ ties.

The President of Vietnam paid a courtesy visit to the President of the National Assembly, Heng Samrin, then continued on to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the new administrative building of the National Assembly.

At the ceremony, the Secretary General of the National Assembly, Leng Penglong stated that the building was a grant from the Vietnamese government to the Royal Government of Cambodia during a previous visit from the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, on July 2017. He added that the construction of the new building will cost around 25 million dollars, and will be built on an area that is 27 meters wide and 49 meters long. The building will also be 12 stories high and have an underground parking space that can accommodate around 260 vehicles.

Secretary General Leng Penglong hopes that this building will be built according to these specifications and be strong and of high quality. He continued to say that he believes that this magnificent building will become a symbol of friendship between the nation of Cambodia and the nation of Vietnam.
