National Olympic Committee Promotes Women's Equal Participation in Sports

PHNOM PENH: The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) organized a seminar on Olympic education and women's equality in sports this Monday at its headquarters. The seminar had the participation of many female students. Secretary General of the NOCC said that this is a course to encourage the women's movement in sports, especially the transfer of knowledge related to skills for women to be brave and participate in sports.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has urged the National Olympic Committee of each country around the world to make women's sports equal to men, especially the principle of the International Olympic Committee to increase the number of women leaders in sports by 30%

He added that due to the current openness for women to participate in sports more widely and the importance of women in sport, the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia always organizes the dissemination of the Olympic movement to women so that they can understand the benefits to participate in sports. "At the same time, I encourage women to understand and build their quality of life through sports by strengthening the sports psychology to encourage women to have the courage to change their lives."

Another important point in the Olympic education program and women's equality in this sport, it’s the journey to host the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Paralympic Games to encourage students to participate in the Kingdom's first historic event, encouraging them to take part in the event, which requires nearly 10,000 volunteers. In order to attract more youth and students to support the historic event, the committee has requested the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to extend the study vacation between the SEA Games held on 17 May 2023 to gain more support on the event in Cambodia.

The Secretary General also stressed that the seminar aims to provide opportunities for young people and students to receive hospitality experience, support the organization of the competition and see the progress of sports for the benefit of their study.

According to the Secretary General of NOCC, physical education and sports are an indispensable component in education.
