Five Suspects Involved in Drug Trafficking Cases Sent to Court

BANTEAY MEANCHEY: The Banteay Meanchey Provincial Armed Forces sent five suspects involved in drug trafficking and illegal drug use to the Provincial Court on Thursday afternoon, after a drug bust on a dirt road in Se Sin village, Sangkat O'Ambel, Serey Sophorn City, Banteay Meanchey Province.

The bust was led by the Commander of the Serei Sophorn Municipal Gendarmerie, Colonel Yan Sovann, who arrested the five suspects and confiscated evidence including four grams of white powder, a small bag, a pipe (weighing 3.48 grams), two motorcycles and other items, which were sent to the provincial court on Thursday afternoon.

The five suspects, according to Colonel Yan Sovann:

1. Tan Nita (aka Nith), a 22-year-old female

2. Sok Chanra (aka Heng), a 24-year-old female

3. Phorn Vannak, a 40-year-old male

(all three currently live in Soeur Village, Soeur Commune, Mongkul Borei District, Banteay Meanchey Province)

4. Vanna Sineoun, a 24-year-old male, Currently living in Po Rieng Village, O'Prasat Commune, Mongkul Borey District, Banteay Meanchey Province.

5. Mam Kosal, a 30-year-old male, currently living in Rong Ko Chong Village, Chamnom Commune, Mongkul Borey District, Banteay Meanchey Province.

Deputy Commander of the Provincial Gendarmerie in charge of narcotics, Colonel Chea Dara, said that the five suspects, after being questioned by the local specialized force of the Municipal Gendarmerie, were found to be involved in drug trafficking and use cases. Four of them were involved in drug use cases only.
