Minister of Culture Presides Over the 11th Mekong River Literature Award Ceremony

KAMPONG CHAM: In the morning of Wednesday, 15 December, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Kampong Cham Provincial Administration, organized the 11th Mekong River Literature Award Ceremony 2020 to the winners living in Kampong Cham Province under the presidency of Governor of Kampong Cham Province Un Chanda with the participation of the President of the Khmer Writers Association, Preung Pronit on behalf of Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Pheung Sakona.

President of the Khmer Writers' Association Preung Pronit, stated that, in fact, the 11th Mekong Literature Award Ceremony 2020 will be held all over the country, but because the country is in the context of Covid-19 disease, the award ceremony of this year will only be set in Kampong Cham province.

Governor of Kampong Cham Province Un Chanda expressed his great pride to the winners of the 11th Mekong River Literature Award 2020 under the theme "Life and Sustainability of the Mekong River" which has given prestige on the international stage, giving honor to the nation to the province and to Families and people living along the Mekong River are really rich and educated.

Un Chanda stated that literature is a mirror that reflects the reality and its society. For example, the literary system about the Mekong River has a very broad meaning, which shows the solidarity of the countries along the Mekong River and the sharing of experiences to writers, students to understand the importance of the Mekong River, allowing them to research and provide experience through literary works in different countries along the Mekong River.

The Governor has added the Mekong River has the same source, the same life, the same river, the same benefits and the same destiny for all countries along the Mekong River, so it’s necessary to preserve the natural heritage, not only for humans but all animals and the environment as whole.

At last, Un Chand has also instructed all students to pay attention to study and increase knowledge in all languages for the job market that comes from knowledge, as well as they must continue to implement measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, in accordance with the Health Ministry's standards.
