PM Calls on Car Owners to Pay Their Taxes Until 31 December

PHNOM PENH: The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia has called on car owners who have not yet paid their taxes to come and pay their taxes as soon as possible.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh, on Wednesday morning, the PM has urged car owners who have not yet paid their taxes to come and pay their taxes. If they settle it on or by 31 December, tax payers will get 10% discount, while right-hand drive cars are not allowed to run on the road. PM has reminded everyone, "I have confirmed that there will be no recurring events on the issue of vehicles not paying taxes under this or that license plate, and that there will be no right-hand drive vehicles in traffic on the road, whether it is a national road or a dirt road, turn it all to the left."

If car owners want to use their vehicle, it’s simple, they must pay the due tax. Fair and square.

In accordance with the letter No. 482, dated 2 September 2021 of the Office of the Council of Ministers and the General Department of Customs and the Cambodian Excise Department on the implementation of the principles and mechanisms of tax collection on existing tax-free vehicles in countries that are taking refuge under various license plates, the General Department of Customs and the Cambodian Excise have reminded and called on car owners that the concessions, the 10 percent tax discount on left-hand drive vehicles will expire on 31 December 2021.
