CAMSOC President Presides Over Special Meeting in Preparation of National Stadium Inauguration

PHNOM PENH: The Minister of National Defense and Chairman of the Cambodian Southeast Asian (SEA) Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC), Tea Banh, chaired a special meeting on Tuesday morning at the Moradok Techo National Stadium to prepare for the stadium’s inauguration ceremony. This includes plans for a 500-day countdown and a national campaign chronicling Cambodia’s journey to hosing the 32nd SEA Games 2023. This ceremony will take place on the morning of 18 December 2021, and will be presided over by Prime Minister Hun Sen.

According to the Secretary General of CAMSOC, Vath Chamroeun, Minister Tea Banh received high recommendations from Prime Minister Hun Sen for the participation of around 15,000 people in the inauguration ceremony. He added that there is a high level of responsibility needed in terms of security and law enforcement, especially for the organization of more than 10,000 participants, which will be the first time an event of this scale will be held in Cambodia in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He elaborated that they are only able to organize such an ambitious event due to strong planning and rigorous implementation of safety measures. The Secretary General explained that they are holding several rehearsals before the day of the actual event, in order to ensure that everything will go smoothly, and to make any revisions if necessary. He added that the performance rehearsals so far have all gone smoothly with no issues.

Minister Tea Banh also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of all technical committees involved, and also praised all the athletes who are practicing and participating in the event with great care, especially the coaches.

Secretary General Vath Chamroeun confirmed that all parties involved in the organization of the ceremony have received encouragement from Minister Tea Banh, and the Minister of Tourism and Permanent Vice Chairman of the CAMSOC National Committee, Thong Khon.

He added that the organizers are doing their best to make this historic event a huge success, in order to properly convey the national honor of the Moradok Techo National Stadium, which reflects the Prime Minister’s legacy for the nation and the people of Cambodia.
