Prommegger, Zogg Win Parallel Slalom World Cup Golds in Russia

INTERNATIONAL: Austria's Andreas Prommegger got off to a winning start on Sunday as he won the first parallel slalom event of the 2021-2022 Snowboard World Cup season in Lake Bannoye, Russia. Prommegger, who won silver at the 2021 world championships, beat South Korean Lee Sangho in the gold medal race. It completed a good weekend for Lee who won Saturday's parallel giant slalom event.

Austria had a second name on the podium as Arvind Auner beat compatriot Fabian Obmann in the bronze medal race. After the opening two parallel events, Lee is top of the standings with 180 points, 66 points ahead of Prommegger.

In the women's competition, Julie Zogg of Switzerland beat Miki Tsubaki by the tightest of margins crossing the finish line 0.17 seconds ahead of her Japanese rival. Home favourite, Anastasiia Kurochkina claimed the bronze medal - much to the delight of the Russian fans - by beating Germany's Ramona Theresia Hofmeister.

After the opening two paralell events, Hofmeister is top of the standings having won Saturday's parallel slalom competition. The German has 130 points with Zogg just behind on 122. The Lake Bannoye Resort hosted the first two of 11 parallel events this season. The next event is in Carezza, Italy on Thursday.
