PHNOM PENH: Speaking in an interview with EAC News, Keo Remy said that women's rights in Cambodia have been steadily enhanced in the last 30 years. He added that women are now seen in the ranks of the national and sub-national administrations, while the tradition of restricting women's rights has been gradually reduced.

The president of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee, Keo Remy says promoting girls and women to get an education is the best way to promote women's rights. He said that these successes are due to the Cambodian government focusing on education as well as encouraging and facilitating women to get more education.

"Now there is a lot of improvement," he said. “I would like to say that in order to make women strong and equal. The law is equally and supports each other without discrimination and violence against women. I would like to say that the most important point for strong women is the education! We need to increase the ability to learn, because learning is very important.”

According to the President of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee, in 2020, the number of girls enrolled in kindergarten was 53%, compared to 48% of boys in primary school and 50% in high school. And the higher level has more than 48%, which he said is a good figure to promote the promotion of women's rights in Cambodia.

Keo Remy has stated by increasing the knowledge of women, combined with the existing mechanisms of the Royal Government, women's rights and freedoms will be fully guaranteed automatically, and it will also lead to the advancement of women and increase human rights in Cambodia as well.
