BREAKING NEWS: Stung Treng Provincial Prison Denies Rumors on Covid-19 Outbreak in the Facility

Stung Treng: Stung Treng Provincial Prison has issued an urgent announcement on Thursday night completely rejecting reports of Covid-19 outbreak inside the facility. According to the authorities, some media have published unverified reports stating that people inside the facility both inmates and prison guards in the provincial prison get infected with Covid-19.

The statement says, "The provincial prison claims that all of the above content is not based on accurate figures and data, as the Covid-19 test has not yet officially released through PCR testing. The dissemination of this information is intended to undermine the management, security, safety and order of the prison".

 Stung Treng Provincial Prison further stated that all prison officials were vaccinated with three doses and the inmates were vaccinated with the single shot Johnson & Johnson.

 Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Dr. Or Vandin has told EAC News that she has not received any information yet about the incident.'

 The director of the Stung Treng Provincial Health Department, Ung Soviet has also spoken to EAC News saying that authorities were collecting samples for PCR testing on suspected cases of Covid-19 infection at Stung Treng Provincial Prison. He has denied the reports that there are inmates in the prison infected with Covid-19 including prison guards

 The provincial health director has said that after finding a prisoner with Covid-19 through rapid test, the provincial prison and the health department took samples of those in contact with the Covid-19 positive patient in the prison for PCR testing. The department is now waiting for the results of the PCR testing.

He says, "We are not sure yet. We just recieve the details that there are positive people in the prison."
