Int’l Sports Organizations Laud Beijing’s Olympic Test Events

INTERNATIONAL: As all the test events for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics have been concluded, presidents of the international winter sports organizations spoke highly of the venues, operation teams, and the organization service. During the test events, competition venues in downtown Beijing, the capital city's suburban district of Yanqing, and Zhangjiakou City in neighboring Hebei Province held 10 international competitions.

The organizing committee in these three areas and teams in competition venues cooperated with international sports organizations in line with rules and technical specifications for the Winter Olympics, as well as completed competition preparations and operations in an orderly manner.

China's National Sliding Center and National Ski Jumping Center hosted international events for the first time. International Luge Federation President Einars Fogelis says, "[The National Sliding Center] is an amazing venue. It's a very, very nice present for all sports. When I put the questions directly after the visit to our athletes of how you feel, [they say] it's a nice track. The ice is in high quality, it's challenging.”

Epidemic prevention and control is also an important part of the tests. According to relevant regulations, concerned personnel are under health monitoring, nucleic acid tests, and closed -loop management.

World Curling Federation President Kate Caithness says, "This pandemic that the world is facing, safety is our biggest concern, and the measures they have put in to ensure the safety of not only the athletes, officials, and everyone who is involved. They've done an excellent job, and we feel very safe in this environment."

An official of the International Ski Federation was impressed by China's aim to get 300 million people involved in winter sports and looks forward to more and closer cooperation with China. The Beijing 2022 organizing committee will also conduct a series of trainings and tests to improve the preparations for the Winter Olympic Games.
