PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Economy and Finance has launched the "Startup Cambodia" National Programme on Wednesday aimed to provide ecosystem to the startup communities through the digital platforms. The programme organised by Techo Startup Centre and Khmer Enterprise is aimed to connect all stakeholders together as a startup ecosystem and strengthen cooperation with each other through community-based programmes and digital platforms and to collaborate in the incubation of startups by providing mutual support in the startup ecosystem through co-creation mechanisms.
According to the Ministry, it is also intended to provide comprehensive and scientific information related to startups, entrepreneurship, and the whole startup ecosystem through digital platforms; and to prepare a national platform to hook up with similar programmes in other countries such as Startup Singapore, Startup Vietnam, Startup Thailand, etc., to push and establish a framework for international cooperation with regional and global countries.
It is supporting the Cambodia Digital Economy and Society Policy Framework 2021-2035 launched in May this year, with the goal of building a digital economy to become a new economic growth driver as well as building an ecosystem that increases productivity and economic efficiency, and to promote the well-being of the people in the Cambodian digital society.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance has stated that in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic where people minimise face-to-face meeting, doing business in Cambodia as well as in other countries around the world is beginning to evolve to a new level with technology at the core of services provision or goods production.
