PHNOM PENH: On Tuesday the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Touch Chankosal chaired a virtual meeting of the Joint Working Group to Improve Transport Operations at the Cambodia-Vietnam International Border Crossing, with the live participation of the Vietnam Deputy Minister Transport Minister Le Dinh Tho and relevant technical officers under the Ministry's guidance.
The purpose of the meeting was to review the joint progress on the design of the Cambodia-Vietnam international border crossing and to discuss the challenges and solutions to traffic congestion due to cross-border consignment at the Cambodia-Vietnam international border crossing.
The opening of the Cambodia-Vietnam border will open up a wide range of opportunities for international cooperation between the two countries, increase investment, cross-border trade, create jobs for people and attract tourists, which are the driving forces. It is also indispensable in promoting the family economy and the socio-economy of the two nations.
The Permanent Secretary of State and the Vietnamese counterpart have spoken about the steady progress of the transport sector today, despite the crisis facing the Covid-19 epidemic.
