PM Reaffirms His Position of Being in Power for More Years to Come, Comparing to King Ponhea Yat

Prey Veng: Prime Minister Hun Sen has used the occasion of the inauguration of National Road 11 in Prey Veng to reaffirm: "I will hold power to a minimum time of equal to King Ponhea Yat. King Ponhea Yat reigned for 43 years”.

King Ponhea Yat reigned in the first half of the 15th century, historically known as a valiant king who had recaptured Angkor from Siam as well as the king who elevated the Phnom Penh capital.

The Prime Minister has also reminded that in 14 of January next year will be the 37th anniversary of his tenure as Prime Minister of Cambodia. He has stressed that at least 10 more years will be needed to surpass King Ponhea Yat.

Last week, Prime Minister Hun Sen has stated in another infrastructure inauguration, in Sihanoukville, to announce his desire to transfer the position of Prime Minister to his son, Hun Manet, but wouldn’t be necessary at the next election.

He has also claimed that someone had asked him to advance his transfer of post of Prime Minister to his son Hun Manet, but he confirmed it was not possible to bring Hun Manet to lead such old leadership.
