PM Says Opposition is Divided not Because of Him, But by Themselves

Sihanoukville: During the occasion of the inauguration of roads and wastewater treatment systems worthen about $300 millions, Prime Minister Hun Sen said the current split of the opposition means they are weak, and they shouldn’t blame Samdech for being a separatist.

“They broke up and came to blame me. Investigate up and down, they are divided, then blame Hun Sen. If you need to blame me, it means that you are weak, you have made others divide your group, so Hun Sen is stronger than Wat Phnom Lion, which can separate you… If fire breaks out, you die! You have no day to live.” Said the Prime Minister.

Although not named, the remarks came after Sam Rainsy and Kem Sokha openly attacked each other on November 28. Kem Sokha declared he and Sam Rainsy were not the same and specifically warned Sam Rainsy, the leader of the illegal rebel movement, to stop using his image and name. Following the announcement, Sam Rainsy falsified the allegations by the ruling party, with some analysts claiming that the ruling party was splitting the opposition.

Prime Minister Hun Sen added, "I cannot accept it, but if you claim that I am strong enough to separate you, you consider your group the weakest and Hun Sen is very strong to accept that!" He continued saying "Who loses is not Hun Sen, you guys are splitting your group, and who is over whom? They are debating. the CPP does not intervene, does not analyze, some take him as the same, while others say no! Not one person, two different people."

The Premier has stressed that compared to a family, even if there is a brother-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law or others separated, as long as the couple loves each other, it is still possible to get together. He reminded the Cambodian People's Party is a party that was divided more than 40 years ago, from 1979 and 1980, but the Cambodian People's Party refused to split and is strong until today.

However, Prime Minister Hun Sen has strongly stated there’s no problem for himself if they are separated or together. Samdech does not care. The Prime Minister considered that this was only an intrigue case of opposition, while the commandment still applies for everyone in the Kingdom.
