Immediately on Wednesday, the 1st day of December, kindergarten and day care services for children from five years old in public and private institutions are allowed to resume their classes. It was approved by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, after kindergartens and nurseries have been ordered shut as a way to contain the spread of Covid-19 virus in this group age.

Following the resumption of classes nationwide on the 1st of November, Prime Minister Hun Sen has expressed concern on the children in kindergarten – children who are five years old. This made him decide to also vaccinate this age group against Covid-19 so they will not be left behind in school.

The situation has improved in just a month, with the vaccination campaign targeting a total of 304 thousand children, reaching 86.76% in the first of December.

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, however, has stressed the importance of continuing applying all SOP’s and health measures instructed by the Ministry of Health, such as following the Three Do’s and Don’ts practices, as well as sanitizing students’ desks and checking their temperatures at the entrance.
