BREAKING NEWS: PM Hun Sen Ready to Visit Myanmar

Sihanoukville: Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced that he is ready to travel to Myanmar in the near future. This announcement was made at the inauguration ceremony of the new road infrastructures, wastewater treatment plant and other infrastructural achievements in Sihanoukville this Thursday morning.

The Prime Minister stated that leaving Myanmar out of ASEAN would be detrimental to the economic union, which has 10 member countries from South East Asia, and would be disregarding the ASEAN Charter.

He stated that "the ASEAN Charter does not require the expulsion of any member”, and further stressed that "if the house itself cannot be organized, what is ASEAN unity and ASEAN middle ground?”. He added that this is also what he relayed to Japan and Indonesia in the past few days of diplomatic meetings.

Prime Minister Hun Sen announced that The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar will also be making an official visit to Cambodia on December 6-7.

Cambodia will be assuming the ASEAN chairmanship in 2022. The upcoming ASEAN Summit will feature many regional and global issues that the union will need to lead and solve together. Cambodia has previously chaired ASEAN twice - in 2002 and 2012.
