Army Commander Lt. Gen. Hun Manet Receives Russian Ambassador to Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Lt. General Hun Manet has met with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Cambodia, Mr. Anatoly Borovik to strengthen ties and enhance cooperation and military operations to gain momentum. The meeting took place on Tuesday morning 30 at the Army Command.

During the meeting, the Russian Ambassador spoke about the good relations, traditional friendship and mutual respect between the two countries and the two nation’s people, and have emphasized that Cambodia is a long-term, trusting partner of Russia so far, and thanked the Prime Minister, the Royal Government and the people of Cambodia, who have always expressed warmth to the country and the people of Russia.

Mr. Anatoly Borovik also added that the two countries have continued to maintain good relations through regular political dialogue, boosting cooperation in the fields of economy, defense and security to ensure regional and global security and prosperity.

He also supported the joint efforts to further strengthen cooperation between the armies of the two countries, in general and in particular between the two armies, by discovering new opportunities and new cooperation mechanisms. Effectively to strengthen and expand military cooperation between the two countries to be more active and stronger.

In response, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet has also stressed the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries and the people. On behalf of the Cambodian and soldiers of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, Mr. HUN Manet thanked Russia for its support in the face of Cambodia's difficult circumstances, in which Russia has played an important role in rebuilding and re-developing Cambodia. After the liberation from the Khmer Rouge regime, including the rebuilding and strengthening of the Cambodian army to prevent the return of this regime.

In this new phase, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet also supported the promotion of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries to be closer and stronger both now and in the future, starting from the executive units such as the Army. In particular, the linking of units and units and training of human resources, focusing on the achievement of practical cooperation as a basis and as part of strengthening the relationship between the military and the country as a whole.
