PM Visits Wastewater Disposal System in Preah Sihanouk

Sihanoukville: Prime Minister Hun Sen has inspected the wastewater disposal system project in Preah Sihanouk province. This is in line of the Royal Government’s plan to transform it into a multi-purpose province by building infrastructure projects such as roads, wastewater treatment station and more.

The Prime Minister says that without a system to release the wastewater, it will not be possible to make the province a good environment. He says that the Royal Government has provided direct funding, which is said to be in the hands of the Cambodian people, both for the construction of the road and the sewage system. For the water treatment system, the Royal Government has built three sites and is currently completing two sites, while another site is opening a construction site with a capacity of more than 20,000 cubic meters per day.

Prime Minister Hun Sen says, "Environmental issues have become an important issue of our nation and also of the world, so we must dare to invest to maintain a common environment for our city. You see, from sewage to the water that we can pet fish. This comes from our efforts, both thoughtful and responsible, to raise money to build these achievements, which is the pride of the Cambodian nation as we strive to rise from the ash, a city where no one live to build an uninhabited city into a desolate modern city.”

He has added that both visitors and bathers in Sihanoukville will no longer be at risk for itching or having a bad breath in the sea. The Prime Minister has informed the citizens that Sihanoukville will be a multi-purpose province that needs to have adequate infrastructure and this construction will use the national budget from the hands of Khmer.

Prime Minister Hun Sen specified that Sihanoukville does not only has road infrastructure, but also has a sewage treatment system that can ensure that the filtered water in the pool becomes clean water flowing into the sea and people can sea bathing in a clean environment.
