PM Says “Khmer Can Do” Slogan Does Not Promote Him as a Prime Minister

Sihanoukville: Prime Minister Hun Sen stated the meaning of "Khmer can do" is not aimed to promote him as Prime Minister, but to cover all Cambodian strength. According to Prime Minister Hun Sen, since ancient times, when the Khmer have built Angkor Wat, Cambodians has proven they can lead the country to progress until today.

The statement was made during a visit to inspect road infrastructure in Sihanoukville on Wednesday. Prime Minister Hun Sen specified he wanted to cover the national journey of Cambodia from the beginning, when his compatriots build Angkor Wat or Preah Vihear temple, as well as the overall land.

He explained the slogan doesn’t aim to enhance the role of the King or the Cambodian People's Party, neither the current Royal Government, but cover all Khmer territory, from the past until now, ensuring the Khmer people will continue to thrive when the opportunity comes, for Khmer can do it all.

"So, this is a point that I would like to point out that this is just a part of it. What is important is to praise all history of Cambodia, which is the pride of our ancestors whose left behind many valuable temples. It is very important for our nation that we are just successors and we build this country with mountains to build roads, so the Cambodians can do it. Not just the last stage, but the whole history of our Kingdom of Cambodia”, Said Prime Minister Hun Sen.
