PHNOM PENH: The Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi, has paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Hun Sen at the Peace Palace on Wednesday morning. The Foreign Minister arrived in Phnom Penh on Tuesday afternoon for a two-day official visit to Cambodia. The visit was made at the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prak Sokhon. One of the important topics discussed is the possible resumption of direct flights between the two countries.
Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, Kao Kim Hourn, has confirmed that Prime Minister Hun Sen and the Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi, have discussed the resumption of flights between Cambodia and Indonesia since Cambodia has now reopened the country.
The Indonesian Foreign Minister expressed her appreciation for the good relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Indonesia, and also stated that she considers the current 88% vaccination rate against both Covid-19 and measles in Cambodia, to be a high rate.
After meeting with the Prime Minister, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prak Sokhon, to discuss aspects of bilateral relations and cooperation, including Cambodia's priorities during the upcoming 2022 ASEAN chairmanship.
The Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed that they expect the official visit of the Indonesian Foreign Minister will continue to strengthen and deepen the long-term relations and close cooperation between Cambodia and Indonesia, in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, for the mutual benefit of both nations and the world.
