Cambodia-Laos Vow to Complete Border Post Next Year

PHNOM PENH: The President of the Cambodian Senate, Say Chhum, and the Prime Minister of Laos, Mr. Phankham Viphavanh have promised to complete the construction of the Cambodia-Laos border post by the end of next year and make the two countries' borders a secure and stable area.

Senate spokesman Mam Bun Neang has told EAC News that during a meeting between Samdech Say Chhum and Phankham Viphavanh this morning, they have discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries, border issues and the development of the Cambodia-Vietnam-Laos triangle. He added that the President and Prime Minister of Laos have promised to complete the construction of the Cambodia-Laos border post next year.

The Lao prime minister has accepted and promised that the Lao side will complete the border demarcation next year.

The Cambodia-Laos border is 540 kilometers long, with about 145 border posts, of which 121 have already been erected, or 84 percent, while the remaining posts are in Preah Vihear and Stung Treng provinces.

In a meeting with the Minister of Defense this morning, Mr. Phankham Viphavanh has urged the Minister of Defense, Tea Banh, to increase the border liaison team to exchange information between the border authorities of the two countries and to make the meeting between local officials Meet at least twice a year to exchange relationships when the condition of covid-19 has improved.
